It’s time once again for the annual West Florida Regional Braille Challenge, on March 7, 2014, at the Lions Eye Institute, 1410 N. 21st Street, Tampa. The Braille Challenge is a national program of the Braille Institute® hosted by regional schools and agencies that serve blind and visually impaired children. It is the only national braille literacy competition of its kind in the country, and is specifically designed to challenge and reward blind students for their study of braille, which is essential to their future academic and employment success.
Regional students who score among the top 60 nationally are invited to Braille Institute in Los Angeles for a final competition. Last year, five Florida students advanced to the finals! Click here for more information about the National Braille Challenge. Also you can Click here To Register for the regional event.
I hope you can join us for this year’s event, even if only for part of the day. If your schedule only allows for partial participation, the Opening Ceremony and the Award Ceremony are always good times to attend.
