ECHO Representative Speaks at Brandon Lions Meeting
Eleanor Saunders, ECHO ( Emergency-Care- Health-Organization) Director, spoke of the origin of the 501(C3) organization which was in 1987. It was the outgrowth of knowing persons needed food, clothing, & health related products.
ECHO’s mission is to provide food, clothing, and life-stabilizing resources to our neighbors in crisis. Their area of coverage goes from Progress Village in the west, Valrico on the east, Thonotosassa on the north, & Riverview on the south.
Their goal is to end hunger in eastern Hillsborough Co.
Right now ECHO furnishes about 300 local families a month. They provide Bread, Cheese, Fresh Produce, Meat, Eggs, & canned goods.
They also have other programs such as: Job Seekers Club, Job Training, Job Placement, Financial Literacy, GED, & Goal Setting & Healthy Eating.
